High School: π Day

On the afternoon of March 15th, high school students and teachers in the International Division celebrated π day with various Math games! To name just a few, there were “314”, Super Quiz, Needle Throwing Experiment… you name it! In 314 for example, students rushed to get grid-paper from Booth-314 and looked everywhere for Math teachers to get an integer from them by correctly answering the questions they asked. Students didn’t know which number the teacher possessed in advance, and after they obtained a number of integers, they racked their brains to get number 3141 by conducting the four basic arithmetic operations together with some advanced operations such as factorial, combination and permutation operations. Teachers in the Faculty of Math went all out to design interesting challenges, touching upon different topics like probability, trigonometry, derivatives…the sky was the limit! Students managed to collect a lot of stamps in the games with their wisdom and passion for Math. They cashed in their stamps on a wheel of fortune to win snacks, free homework tickets and even bonus points in exams! It was great fun, and hopefully students have learnt a lot from the games.
