Puxi Grade 3: Social Study Project - Welcome to Australia!
Puxi Grade 3: Social Study Project - Welcome to Australia!
For the last two days in Social Studies, our Puxi campus third graders have been watching videos about Australia! But these aren’t just any videos. These are videos that students have created using their own research and knowledge of the country, its environments, its history, and its people!
Using their own choice of video making software or iPad apps, the Puxi third graders have placed themselves into the historical timeline of Captain James Cook, the first Englishman to come across Australia. They then filmed videos inviting other captains to come along to this incredible new country. In their videos, they used historical information about the Aborigines; geographical information about various land features and the plants and animals that have these places as their habitats; and their own humor and persuasive skills to encourage others to explore this place!
Each video was incredibly different! Some students dressed up as actual captains, while others somehow created a background that actually appeared to be Australia! All the kids worked incredibly hard on this project, and it showed by the joy and excitement from each classmate as we enjoyed hearing them invite us to come along to Australia!
