Grade 10: Assembly about Musical and Drama

On Tuesday’s assembly, Sonia Chang from 10(2) gave all the tenth graders a speech about music and drama. She shared her experiences in music and drama and how theater has changed her life. During her first semester in high school, she joined Musical Club and participated in the production of an original musical adapted from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Since it was primarily prepared for a competition, the whole performance was rather short, around 20 minutes; but the music (original music composed by Mr. Sang Tan) and choreography was just mind blowing. Even though she played a minor character, she loved it- the music, choreography, crazy costumes, and the cast members were extraordinary and she enjoyed every second being on stage. Since then, she has pretty much decided to dedicate her entire high school life to theater. In Sonia’s opinion, joining drama and musical club has definitely benefited her as a whole. Most significantly, it has built up her confidence and improved her English Presentation skills. Musicals and drama require a lot of effort and hard work, but at the end it’s all worth it.
