Grade 10: The SHSID Wikibirdia Exhibition

The SHSID Wikibirdia exhibition has started in the Zhong Xing Building Annex Lobby! The exhibition includes photos and descriptions of all 39 species of birds recorded on campus by Hiko and Archie over the past two years. Together with the pictures and descriptions, there are also coordinates to where the birds were found previously, how often they were recorded, and the seasons in which they are most likely to be seen. With this information, you would be able to go out and find these birds during lunchtime on your own! Unless our school is having a zombie apocalypse, you would definitely be able to see the five most common ‘everyday’ species: Chinese bulbul, spotted dove, azure-winged magpie, Eurasian tree sparrow, and common blackbird. Some possible additions to your lunchtime bird list may be: long tailed shrike, white wagtail, and Japanese tit. If you are observant enough, you will also find hoopoes on the lawns or a night heron standing like a statue on the top of the stone goldfish in the school lake. Don't worry about equipment– Hiko and Archie can lend you whatever equipment you might desire– binoculars, cameras, and scopes. We hope you become the next person to add a bird to the school list!
