Grade 6: Fire Drill

On March 3rd, the 5th and 6th grade students attended the 2016 second semester fire drill. The fire drill was created for students to practice exiting the buildigng efficiently during a real fire drill. Although the fire drill today was only a practice, every student cooperated well.

At the beginning, the students were in their homerooms having their Youth Development class. Without warning, the fire bell rang. The homeroom teachers reacted quickly. One teacher lined up the students while another passed towels. The students wet their towels and covered their mouths. Then, the homeroom doors opened, and students came out of their classrooms one by one. They were led by two teachers: one leading the class in the front of the line, one following at the end of the line to check if anyone lagged.

The classes took the stairs closest to their homerooms. No one pushed or dashed downstairs, and every class walked in order. In no time, every class was safely outdoors. You could see pretend smoke near the building, students calming themselves, and teachers tallying the number of students. At last, the students went back to their homerooms to prepare for the second round. The second round went as well as the first.

In conclusion, after the fire drill, every student had learned something.
