Pudong Grade 2: Walking into the Fire Fighters’ Life!

In the third week of Personal Growth class, the second graders from Pudong campus followed their teachers to visit a fire station to have a look at the lives of firefighters.

The children were sitting together, listening to a young firefighter to introduce many kinds of equipment on the fire truck. The children all paid full attention. They wanted to know how the firemen use this amazing equipment to extinguish fires, to help people save their properties and their lives. Of course, the thing which attracted the most attention was the fire hose, some of the kids even got a chance to hold the fire hose and imagine themselves as firefighters.

At the end of the day had all learned a lot of new things about fire trucks. The children followed the teachers to visit the fire fighters’ bedroom area. When the kids saw the fire fighters’ quilts were stacked so neatly, they said “wow!” and promised they would try to do the same at home.

The best part of the day’s visit was when the fire fighters showed us a real fire drill and let some of the kids have a go on the turntable ladder. At the end of the visit, the children felt that firefighters are real heroes, and offered a well drawn thank-you letter to express their admiration to the firefighters!
