Junior Middle School Students Won USAP

On February 6, thirty-three junior pentathletes arrived in Guangzhou with Ms. Shen and three students’ mom as volunteers. Everyone was ready for the coming competition when they arrived at Shangri-La, the hotel where Pentathlon was held.

The second day, every pentathlete took the objective test. The objective test contained multiple choice questions on 5 subjects: science, social science, fine arts, literature, and math. The topic for this year was “World War ll”. After the objective tests, the next “event” was the assessment center, also known as the assessment test. Here the pentathletes needed to work together to create a stone thrower. This test required team work, communication, and creativity. The last test of the day was the “Super Quiz”. Again, the kids worked in groups to finish 30 questions. After dinner, all of the pentathletes attended the “Gala Night” and had lots of fun.

The next day was the awarding and closing ceremony. SHSID sent 4 teams to Guangzhou and they all got really good scores. Congratulations to one of our teams who got into the final.

During this three-day trip, everyone learned something and is happy with the results. Congratulations again to all of our medalists!
