Grade 8: A Lecture about Internet of Things
Grade 8: A Lecture about Internet of Things
It is now already 2017, where numerous generations have passed by since the advent of humanity on planet Earth. Along the path of history, technology has always been the closest human companion to helping us to leap gigantic steps towards development and convenience. Then, at the current stage of the modern world, how can technology be used to benefit humanity?
On the 29th of December, 2016, all 8th graders attended a lecture delivered by professor Li Wenxian, vice president of SAP, in the Xianmian Auditorium. On the first page of the powerpoint was the phrase – “the world and the internet”, which aroused curiosity among the students. The presentation consisted of various aspects where advanced technology could be applied. Examples of future technology consisted of things from transportation such as systems that could automatically detect objects in front of the vehicle and drive the automobile safely back to home, to grocery shopping in which robots and mini-helicopters could find and carry the desired products of the buyers. In addition, there were a lot more interesting and creative methods where IT technology could be utilized.
A VR device, which is an electronic device that shows virtual reality, was also brought to the site. The students were highly enthusiastic and excited about the VR device, concentrating and listening carefully. The screen showed the process of ordering instructions for the transportation of cargo only by a few clicks with the VR helmet on. A student from the eighth grade actually attempted to use the VR device, which must have been a fresh and appealing experience.
Finally, the lecture ended which was associated with an enormous round of applause and cheer. From the energetic faces of the audience and the passionate sound of applause that filled the auditorium, we could see the earnest interest of eighth graders towards modern technology.
