SHSID STEM Seminar

Emphasizing the study of math, science and technology is a key component in SHSID mission statement. To further inspire students’ interest, deepen their understanding, and cultivate a scientifically literate society, teachers have implemented a STEM Seminar.

Since this semester, 7 teachers from Physics group, Chemistry group, Biology group, and math group have participated in a STEM seminar lead by Professor Xu. Professor Xu is a veteran teaching supervisor at SHSID. This STEM seminar has already been held three times in this semester. 8 teachers warmly discussed the latest developments in science and math education. The seminar is scheduled to meet once a month in next semester. Topics to be discussed will include core concepts in science and math education, similarities and differences among these subjects, educational aims and pedagogy, and assessment targets and standards. The STEM seminar is trying to find the possible developing direction for the next step of SHSID science and math education.
