Combinatorics Lecture from USA IMO Coach

On the afternoon of December 29th, Professor Po-Shen Loh(National Coach of USA International Math Olympiad team) came to campus and gave a lecture on Combinatorics to over 100 students from SHS and SHSID.

Professor Loh is the current coach of the USA International Math Olympiad, and a Professor of Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University. The USA team, led by Professor Loh, won the first prize in 2016 International Olympiad.

The lecture on Dec. 29th was mainly about Combinatorics. Starting from the daily life phenomena, Professor Loh vividly explained some concepts in Combinatorics, introduced a website he founded called expii.com, and shared some of his findings in Artificial Intelligence.

The lecture lasted for an hour and a half. After the lecture, the students, both from SHS and SHSID, enthusiastically proposed their inquiries in the field of Math. They also expressed their immense gratitude to Professor Loh for giving the brilliant lecture.
