Middle School: Art Festival
Middle School: Art Festival
Before the Christmas Holiday, Shanghai High School International Division held the annually anticipated holiday themed Art Festival. This event was complete with wonderful vocal, piano, dancing, rapping, and guitar performances. Even the hardworking teachers spent time putting together a sensational Christmas dance for the audience.
Following school tradition, this magnificent art festival began with a major highlight: the orchestra performance. Twenty to thirty students gathered onstage along with their drums, saxophones, and flutes to present a well-rehearsed piece which included Frozen’s “Do You Want to Build a Snowman.” After the orchestra there was a succession of brilliant shows, complete with lighting, music, and effects. The students of the nearly packed auditorium cheered and applauded loudly after each performance, encouraging their classmates and friends onstage. Parents and teachers also watched with pride as familiar faces went on to perform.
Incorporating the spirit of Christmas, there were also several lucky draws where Santa Claus went onstage to hand out special gifts. Students from both seventh and eighth grade were selected and were extremely excited when their names were called.
Finally, the art festival concluded with a teachers’ performance and an appearance of SHSID’s dance club and the teachers’ performance were anticipated with great excitement. Around fifteen teachers in Christmas costumes walked onto the stage and began a well-practiced routine. After they finished, the teachers left the stage to thundering applause. The SPDC members went up next. Their performance was definitely one of the greatest highlights of this art festival. After the hosts said their goodbyes, everyone left the auditorium eagerly awaiting the final results from the judges.
