Grade 9: Students Won National Debate Competition

As a mélange of exuberance and dejection, Guangdong Regional indicates the end of the NSDA 2016-2017 Fall Season on 17th and 18th of December. On 17th, Dec, after four debates and out of 65 competing teams at Guangdong, both teams from SHSID—comprised of Andrew Mi, Jenny, Yu, Andy Huang and Lelan Hu —qualified for eliminations. Moreover, Jenny Yu, Andrew Mi, and Lelan Hu secured three places in the Top 10 speakers list. The following day was then a brutal battlefield of debaters surpassing and being surpassed, continuing and stopping. By the end of the day, Jenny Yu and Andy Huang had attained the title of Quarterfinalists. Meanwhile, Andrew Mi and Lelan Hu earned champion trophies.

The victory gave credit to a combination of efforts by the SHSID debate team. The mutual support of the participants, and the encouragement and invaluable advices given by mentor teachers and fellow students, were the greatest treasure to our winners.
