Grade 11: Traditional Costume Display & Original Drama Performance

On the morning of November 14th, Non-native Chinese students from all levels of Grade 11 celebrated various types of Chinese customs and traditions. Each and every level of students was assigned particular customs from certain time period of the Chinese history. All non-native Chinese students were encouraged to participate either wearing the Chinese customs or performing their creative play. Non-native Chinese level III students wore traditional costumes, Qiapao and Cheongsam. Qipao was trendy and tightened to the body; cheongsam seemed to be light colored and loosely designed. After introducing the costumes, some Non-native Chinese level III students performed the adaptation of the fable of The Tortoise and the Hare. By students performing moralizing story of it, the aptitude and capability of non-native Chinese students seemed to be more and more creative and profound than before. Not only the non-native Chinese level III students, but the non-native Chinese students from all levels tended to enjoy their preparation or a process of wearing traditional Chinese clothes and performing plays. Students from other levels all put on costumes of different ethnic groups assigned to them and presented hilarious dramas prepared by themselves, one of which depicts a time-travel transsexual romantic story between a man from our time and the emperor of Qing dynasty!

By all the efforts that all students have shown, All non-native Chinese students had an unforgettable chance to feel the unity of all time period’s unique costumes and culture.
