Puxi Grade 3: Math Project-Camping

Time is always regarded as a difficult point in math learning, especially elapsed time. To provide third graders an opportunity to apply what they learned in class to daily life, math teachers assigned a math project called “Camping” to them.

Students were required to plan a camping trip in the countryside. Their teachers provided them with a chart including all the activities they could take in camp. Students were asked to make a schedule showing the beginning and end time of each activity. The length of time each activity was to take was also shown in the chart. They were asked to draw a picture of each activity, and then to draw the hands on the clock to show the beginning time of each activity. Most students successfully completed this math project with colorful pictures and a well-planned schedule.

This math project combined many knowledge points together and related things they learned in class to our daily life. We hope our students could have fun and expand their knowledge in making this math project!
