Shanghai's 14th ZhangJiang Ping Pang Cup

Shanghai's 14th ZhangJiang Cup was hosted at Pudong Foreign Language School this Saturday. Over 300 participants from various universities, sports associations and companies gathered in the sports stadium. This was our school's first time competing in such a large scale tournament. As the delegation with the youngest competitors, we witnessed many great matches and learnt that competitions are not only about skill– it's also a mental battle.

Faced against opponents twice our size and thrice our age, three of our teams managed to make it to the second round of the team tournament. Of the 256 participants, Peter Duan 12(5) and Justin Chiang 12(2) emerged in the Top 32 for men's singles– an incredible feat. The women's singles had 64 competitors, in which Yi Shing Koh 12(1) and Michelle Ding 8(5) finished in the Top 16. Yueting Yang 8(4) was the last SHSID player standing and ended up with Fifth Place. This was an unforgettable learning experience! Through this competition, SHSID has enlarged its impact and reputation among foreigners in Shanghai.
