Puxi Grade 3: Knowing Self-Emotion

The Puxi third graders experienced a special Personal Growth class on December 2nd. In this class, the third graders were expected to learn something about emotions and self-control.

‘Anger’ is a familiar word for third graders, because it is common in daily life. When being asked what would make them feel angry, some students thought that being ignored and alone would make them feel angry. Some students thought that being misunderstood would trigger anger. Some students thought that being disrespected was the only reason to make them feel angry.

Teachers showed several pictures for students, such as Anger Iceberg, Angry Birds’ Good Idea, to know what may trigger anger and how to control angry feelings with some good methods. For example, find a quite place to calm down, have a deep breath, ask adults for help, and leave the room will help a lot.

At the end of the class, all the third graders also signed a contract of emotional control. Teachers hope that third graders can have a better understanding about their own emotions and feelings and know how to control their bad feelings and emotions after having this special class.
