Primary School: Young Engineers at Work -- Shanghai STEMx Contest

The third Shanghai STEMx Contest was held at Shanghai 54th Middle School on November 27th. More than 600 contestants from schools all over the city joined this event! Students from our primary section took part in the creative building contest. After two weeks of school preliminaries and training, Kevin and Bruce from Puxi Grade 4 represented SHSID in Team 1, and Angela and Chloe from Pudong Grade 5 formed SHSID Team 2. With 20 other teams from different schools, they finished their racecars with the given Knex packet in 40 minutes. When all the cars were set on the starting line, there came the climax of the contest. With the whistle of the judge, all the racecars rushed to the terminal. Because of our great preparation and smart designs, SHSID won the 1st and 2nd prizes of this contest. Through this event, our young engineers learnt the basics of racecars, realized the power of gears, and most of all, enjoyed their exploration. We believe that these engineers will definitely surprise us with greater designs in the future.
