High School Students Won Prizes in the WSC

Scholars from SHSID jetted off to New Haven last week to participate in the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions, a prestigious competition bringing together some of the best scholars around the world. The top teams in the world who had qualified from the global and mini global rounds in Bangkok and Prague respectively gathered together at Yale University for a four-day mix of laughs and serious debate. Familiar faces and close friends from the global round were greeted. The Yale Tournament Champions was similar in format to previous WSC tournaments, yet it differed in so many ways. Competitions and ceremonies were held in the chapels of the prestigious Yale University. The different segments of the competition were more intense as the scholars attending were more focused and smarter. Though this Yale TOC may not have yielded the most ideal results, it was still an effort well made. In the face of stiff competition, SHSID scholars held on and performed calmly, bringing home medals and even a trophy. An especial congratulation to Celine Sung of Grade 12, who performed admirably and earned a place in the debate showcase, and a job well done to all the other SHSID scholars at the TOC.
