Lecture on Traditional Chinese Culture: The Diversity of Thoughts in Ancient China
Lecture on Traditional Chinese Culture: The Diversity of Thoughts in Ancient China
Nowadays, tradition Chinese culture is playing an increasingly important role in our daily life. Just as it said: Flower blooming inside the wall gets more admiration from the outside. Although traditional Chinese culture is complaint by some Chinese pupils as being too difficult to learn, foreign students at SHSID are happily absorbed by it.
On November 18th, a lecture named Traditional Chinese Culture was presented to the Grade 11 students leveled 8 in Chinese by Mr. Wang Jiaxiang. This is the 2nd lecture of its series. The lecture coved a wide scope of different schools of classics.
With Mr.Wang’s patient expounding, all students travelled back to the ancient Chinese world. Towards the end, Mr. Wang quoted one exemplary sentence from each school to serve as the proof of the diversity of Chinese culture and the code of the lecture: For Confucius, Ren is of paramount importance; for Mencius, it’s Yi; for Laoci, the dualism of Rou and Gang and Yin and Yang is essential, while for Zhuangci, it’s freedom, etc. The lecture set students laughing and thinking.
Time flies, and one hour passed quickly. Students all felt this lecture is so wonderful, and they are now looking forward to the next lecture.
