Grade 8:Music of Gratitude and Love

On the afternoon of November 18th, our 8th grade "Music for Patients" service and learning group held a Thanksgiving Mini Concert in the Outpatient Hall of Renji Hospital, Pudong.

To coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday atmosphere and to show more beautiful melodies to the audience, for the past three weeks Kingsley from 8(2) and other members of the team, Terence, Sammi and Dolly, have prepared several new master pieces. The different music styles include Minuets, Etudes, Waltzes and Sonatas as well as the spirits of outstanding masters such as Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky and Chopin. All the music was beautifully interpreted by these junior musicians. Kinglsey performed Schubert’s "Impromptu", Sammi performed “C Minor Etude Revolution" and Saint-Saens’s Cello "Swan", and Dolly performed "Fantasy". The audience loved them all. Finally, a Chopin "Fantasy Impromptu” by Kingsley pushed the concert to its climax. The Outpatient Hall seemed like a magnificent temple of music. Many patients and their families highly appreciated the wonderful performances of these junior musicians. Some hospitalized patients sitting in their wheelchairs were also participating the concert.

This mini concert was supported by the management of Renji Hospital. They prepared a large background wall and specifically made some beautiful bookmarks for the audience. Mr. Ni, Director of SHSID middle school, showed his support by presenting some brush calligraphy artwork. Aaron Shen, the Head Teacher of 8th grade, personally led the group to the Outpatient Hall from the campus to encourage and support these young musicians.

The concert added unlimited warmth to the Outpatient Hall of Renji Hospital. Our junior musicians were also happy for being able to bring the patients and their families a comfortable and happy mood. Health is priceless, love is infinite. The "Music for Patients" group activities will continue and love will always be flying with the musical notes!
