Puxi Grade 1: When Happy Halloween Meet Normal Class
Puxi Grade 1: When Happy Halloween Meet Normal Class
To make classes more efficient and joyful for the first graders, all the Chinese teachers in Grade 1 have attempted to combine many different kinds of word games with Chinese class teaching. On October, 28, the whole primary section celebrated the Halloween. There were many interesting activities on that day. The Chinese teachers in Grade ! designed many types of Chinese word and oral practices closely related to Halloween and the activities they had on that day. The teachers wanted to try out new ways of combining interesting game forms, fun festival celebrations with standard Chinese teaching.
Ms Pu in 1(6) spent a great deal of time and energy on creating many different kinds of Chinese word games covering Halloween topics. She made games covering Chinese reading practice, Pinyin practice, and Chinese character recognition practice. Ms Ge in 1(3) also thought of combining oral Chinese practice with iPad teaching. The teachers have taught the students to record short Chinese-language speeches on their favorite Halloween activities using the iPad app Chatterpix. The students were also taught to make an e-book with the iPad app Book Creator. The students not only had the opportunity to practice their oral Chinese, but also their written Chinese.
All the Chinese teachers in Grade 1 agreed that their effort was a great step forward for their Native Chinese class. Grade 1 Chinese classes must be more efficient and energetic than regular Chinese teaching. Interesting word games and attractive activities are a great way to realize this goal.
