Grade 6: Charity Concert

The 5th and 6th graders held their charity fair on the 3rd of November. In addition to the charity bazaar, as with previous years, a charity concert and charity mini sports day were also held.

The 6th grade PTSA team worked closely with teachers to organise the concert. As musical director, Ms Xiao Qian oversaw the compilation of performance items, and collated the list of 19 performances with the help of all homeroom teachers. It was very heartening to see the students being so enthusiastic about this concert. 4 students (2 from each grade) were also selected to be the event hosts. The PTSA kick started online ticket sales 2 weeks before the actual performance date. Teachers and PTSA reps worked hard to push ticket sales in their class Wechat groups too. The team and a few other parent volunteers printed out charity concert posters to promote the event in school. Luminous blue wristbands were also produced which the ASB sold a few days prior to the concert. Students bought these for 10 yuan each and all 300 pieces were sold out within a few days! Other parent volunteers oversaw logistical matters such as signages to the auditorium, making the concert playbill PowerPoint, ushering and photography.

On the actual day, the entire concert ran very smoothly and was a resounding success! Each performer showcased their talent confidently and with much poise. It was impressive to see such high calibre performances, from guzheng, to flute, and a hip hop dance to one band's rendition of the latest hit "PPAP"! All volunteers were happy to see all their efforts come into fruition, and this was evident in the beaming happy faces in the audience made up of parents, fellow school mates, Director Luo and Principal Liu!

Just under 31,000 RMB was raised from this charity concert which is a historical high. We hope that these funds will be able to reach those most in need.
