Grade 9: Students Won Second Prize in International History Competition

On Saturday, October 29th, SHSID sent its delegation of history buffs to compete in the Shanghai Regional Round of the International History Bee and Bowl. Armed with a heap of eager new recruits, SHSID’s delegation spread competitors all across the board: one Varsity, two JVs, and three 8th Grade teams. The newcomers were filled with energy and a touch of nerves, while the experienced players were chatting about the one topic that unites us: History.

Throughout the day, every team from SHSID shone through. Adapting quickly to the new venue in Xuhui District, our students easily took on members from other international schools from Shanghai. In the History Bee our individual contestants swept the board, securing finalists in every single division. SHSID ended up winning the JV and 8th grade division, finishing second in the Varsity and performing admirably in the Bee. Special mention has to go to the mentor teachers: Mr Sharp, Ms Tuttle, and Mr Wright. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners!
