A Brand New Course “3D Innovational Space” Launched in SHSID

At the beginning of this semester, Shanghai High School International Division introduced a brand new course named “3D Innovational Space” which has received very good feedback from both teachers and students as something which is extremely interesting and inspirational.

Since 3D printing technology has become one of the fastest growing industries, many experts have proposed introducing 3D printing and innovational education theories to school curriculums. In response to that, SHSID has opened this selective course to students from G5 to G8 in order to teach students how to proactively explore, discover and solve problems. Classes usually begin with a game or an interesting video to attract students’ attention. During the classes, students have the chance to assemble 3D printers by themselves after their teacher has taught them some 3D printing knowledge. It is a miraculous experience for students to assemble all the parts together, until an entire printer is completed.

SHSID has participated in the 8th “Shanghai Model Festival: 3D Innovational Model Competition” and is waiting for results. The school thinks this course is a brand new experience for both students and teachers and would love to see more new and creative courses where students can both learn and do things together.
