Grades 7-8: After School Experiment: Germiculture

Biology class is always one of the favorite subjects among junior students. Students can learn interesting phenomena and principles related to daily life. Recently, students in the 7-8th Grade after school biology club cultured many pretty colonies into different shapes and sizes.

After school on Wednesday, teachers in the biology club chose different types of bacteria (Escherichia Coli, Bacillus subtilis etc.) and taught the students about them. The culturing period of bacteria is 2-days. Two days later, students displayed their cultured bacteria. We hope the students will foster their enthusiasm towards biology. Also, their confidence and cognition on biology will be enhanced.
