G12: Career Day
G12: Career Day
On October 26th, juniors and seniors were given the opportunity to be engaged with their chosen careers in the two CAS periods. SHSID invited seventeen guest speakers from different fields of study to share their experiences and introduce their respective professions. Those professions ranged from entrepreneurship, psychology, banking, to law, fashion design, pharmacy, and etc.
As the bell rang, each classroom was filled with enthusiastic students, eagerly waiting for the guest speaker to inform and inspire them about their possible careers. When the speakers began the lectures by introducing themselves, students clapped to welcome them. During the speeches, guest speakers interacted with students, sharing their personal stories about the majors they studied and how they eventually ended up in their current businesses. Jackie Chen, from Haibang International Student Union, explained how he started his society by founding the Joey Times Magazine in high school and eventually ended up creating films that were nominated for various famous awards. The pharmacist, Huang Xin, illustrated how he began his career by taking a Chemistry major and a PhD and ultimately created medicines and treatments that eradicate tumors.
This afternoon’s career day was an inspiring activity for all students to get in touch with the professions that they feel passionate or curious about.
“To do is more important than to think…those who take actions are the ones who truly contribute to the society”, said by one guest speaker.
The activity bonded students through an exploration of their potential futures. It encouraged them to pursue their interests and take actions that eventually will contribute to their lives and the society in general.
