Grades 9-12: Economics Department Faculty's Seminar

On October 14th, the Economics Department held a faculty seminar in Room 202 of the Xianmian Building. The seminar was held by the head of Economics Department, Ms. Zhang Li. During the seminar, teachers stated their different attitudes towards teaching and shared their teaching experience.

At first, the teachers discussed the design of the Senior Project for Grade 12 students. Ms Zhang showed two drafts of the projects to all the teachers to let them have an overview of it. Later, they discussed how to better design the project so as to better promote and develop students’ research abilities.

After that, each teacher shared and summarized their teaching activities during the past one month. Teachers of IB Economics, AP Economics, Economics, Accounting and Business Management all made a brief summary of the students and their performance in their classes. Later the topic expanded to how to use formative assessment to scientifically grade students comprehensively.

Finally, the names of awards for individual subjects were decided. These awards aim to encourage students who have a great interest in or significant contributions to a particular subject.

The faculty seminar is a good platform for teachers not only to communicate their teaching experience and outcomes, but also to help new teachers to grow faster, which will eventually be beneficial for the students.
