Grade 7: History Field Trip to Museums
Grade 7: History Field Trip to Museums
On October the 13th, the 7th graders had their first History field trip. Different homerooms went to different museums. They are the Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Textile Museum, Shanghai Jewish Museum and Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center. The students all researched about the museum they were going to and prepared very well for their tasks.
In order to apply the knowledge we have learnt in class in real life, the history teachers planed a source connection activity for this field trip. The students had to look for primary sources and take pictures of them. Then, we analyzed the sources and wrote a paragraph introducing them. After entering the museum, we formed small groups and walked into different exhibitions, taking notes and pictures of items on display that we were thrilled to know more about. In the Shanghai Museum, we saw ancient pots, bronze-ware and calligraphy. In the Textile Museum, we experienced dyeing clothes and making Chinese knots in the most traditional way. In the Jewish Museum, we learned that the Shanghai people helped rescue Jewish refugees during World War 2. In the Shanghai Urban Planning Center, we understood what Shanghai will look like in a few years.
In the end, everyone learned and had fun. We all found an exhibit we are interested in and we are ready to give the exhibit a clear and interesting introduction!
