Grade 8: Visit Shanghai Railway Museum

On the afternoon of Oct.13th, the 8th graders went for a field trip together. Class 3, 5, and 8 visited Shanghai Railway Museum. Different from what you think how a museum would look like, the railway museum is a building that mixed old classic styles and modern styles together. All of the exhibits and items were placed neatly, with descriptions about railway’s development as well as evolution. Moreover, a lot of pictures were put into use to explain the maintaining of railways, and communication equipment. At the same time, there are a lot of devices that old trains would use, such as giant bells for communication, and cups for passengers.

What was really amazing is that the garden outside of the museum was decorated to look like a railway station from old times. The steam train and the station all played a role to give the students a vivid picture of the old railway station and system.

By visiting the railway museum, everybody learned a lot about the development and history of railways. And it is acknowledged by most students that this experience was indeed rewarding.
