Biology Group: Discussion on “independent learning” & “ assignment standardization”

In October 14th, SHSID’s biology group carried out a workshop on “independent learning” and “assignment standardization”. All the biology teachers took an active part in the discussion lead by Gu Yin. The atmosphere was very lively and the discussion more than met expectations.

The first part of the workshop covered “independent learning” in junior students. Teachers held the opinion that it independent learning is a basic ability for excellent students. Independent learning requires the ability to search and locate learning materials, effective communication between students and teachers, connecting principles with practice, and various other traits.

The second part covered “assignment standardization” in senior students. All teachers in AP, IB and school courses thought that it was very important to assign homework appropriately and to a high quality stnadard. The homework should contain key and hard points. In addition, it should contain critical thinking questions.

During the two-hour workshop, teachers in biology enhanced their teaching experiences and skills. Also, teachers in different grades grew to know each other better.
