Public Information Session IV: Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon - Threads of creativity come together and stitch together to form an environment of innovation

On October 11th, admission officers from Carnegie Mellon University, a world-renowned institution that is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, crossed the Pacific to provide a public Information session at the annex auditorium of Shanghai High School International Division, which attracted high school students from Shanghai, Wuxi, Nanjing, and other nearby cities.

Although commonly known as a STEM school that majors in computer science and engineering, the admission officers painted the other side of CMU that is also deeply proficient in fine arts. From the College of Engineering to the College of Fine Arts and then across the numerous programs and schools within, they emphasized an environment that focuses on deep disciplinary knowledge, problem solving, leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, personal health and well being.

As the entire information session progressed from general introduction of academic background and school life to eventually Q&A sessions, students gained more insight to this university and became a little step closer in finding their dream school.
