Admissions Office: Open House for Parents of Prospective Grade 1 Students

On the afternoon of September 26th, the Puxi campus admissions office held an Open House activity for parents whose children will attend primary school as Grade 1 students next September.

More than 40 parents participated on the day, and the activity was divided into two parts: First, Ms. Miao, Director of the Admissions Office, introduced some basic information about SHSID to the parents in the school’s Piano Centre. This included the current students’ nationalities and their numbers, advantages of studying at SHSID, and information about the teaching staff. She then described a typical day for Grade 1 students and introduced the course system and textbooks, which gave the parents an overview of the SHSID’s curriculum and mission. In the second part, the parents were driven around the school by school golf carts. They had a look at the campus environment and the Sodexo cafeteria, which provides lunch for students. The parents also visited the primary school’s class building and watched Grade 1 students having classes. After the activity, the parents showed great interest in the school. Many of them came to the Admissions Office to make further consultations and submit applications for their children.

The Open House activity is now very popular among parents. It is held every Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning.
