SHSID students achieved high scores in Physics Bowl competition

This is the second year that students from our school participated in the Physics Bowl competition. It is extremely demanding in students’ abilities in Physics, with questions at levels much higher than ordinary physics class. It is also split into two divisions according to difficulty.

This year, more than 6400 students from more than 500 schools worldwide participated in this competition. From SHSID, 8 students participated, together placing us at #16 worldwide and #8 national in Division 1 school-wise. Furthermore, Bo (Hiroshi) Wu scored #1 in region 17* and top 20 worldwide in Division 1. Yuxuan (Andrew) Zhu also placed #67 globally in Division 1. The other students scored very high in this competition as well.

This competition was a very valuable experience to us. Many of us found satisfaction for our thirst for physics. Students were also discussing over the problems after the test through scholarly analysis, which was great fun as well. We hope that more people with interest in physics can join us next year in this competition. We also sincerely thank our advisor Dongsheng Zhang for helping them with this competition over the past two years.

Again, congratulations to our team!

*Region 17 includes Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang.
