Grade 7-8: Creative Writing Club
Grade 7-8: Creative Writing Club
The new creative writing club created this semester has proven to be a success. Being the only club conducted during lunch hours, the cub has been very popular among its many participants.
Every Thursday, students have brought their lunch to a designated classroom, and joined the three lovely teachers—Ms. Stone, Ms. Danielle and Ms.Dedek— on multiple journeys in the creative lands of the human mind.
There are three sub-groups in this club. Each teacher is in charge of a sub-group, or “clan”.
Ms. Stone is in charge of the creative short story writing. Students of her clan are usually seen with their vivid short stories that they have written for the club. Ms. Danielle, on the other hand, is in charge of the poetry club. While there are less participants, the members are always actively engaged in the writing and analyzing process of poetry. Ms. Dedek’s clan is among the most mysterious. She is in charge of the “Intense Writing Clan", and it is most likely correct to assume that the group of students in the clan are all intensive writers.
The creation of this club has proven itself to be a success. Students in the Short Story Clan were given a topic each class. From the moment that they decide on how best to write with the topic, the students are then free to roam in the land of creativity. In the Poetry Clan, students are given different types and categories of poems to examine each time. Then, based on these specific types of poems, the students need to create their own.
By the end of this semester, it is likely that the Creative Writing Club will make their own story anthology.
During the 15 sessions of this semester, students have used their creativity to forge their stories and improve upon their writing skills. With the help of their teachers and peers, each student are able to find a way that suited them the most in this big family of a club.
