Puxi Grade 3 : Visiting Shanghai Qingcongquan Training Center for Children with Special Needs
Puxi Grade 3 : Visiting Shanghai Qingcongquan Training Center for Children with Special Needs
Some Grade 3 students, teachers, and parents went to visit Shanghai Qingcongquan Training Center for Children with Special Needs with our charity fair funds. We listened to a lecture about autistic children’s social and educational environments. Autistic children interact with others in different ways than other children. Teachers at the Center need to spend lots of time teaching many of the children basic physical movements, as well as reinforcing cognitive activities over and over again. There is no medicine that can cure the challenges of autism, which means many children with autism need companions all their life. Along with expenses, once they reach adulthood, we are left to answer the question of “Who will take care of them?” In addition, the Center has the following problems: many serious cases of autism queuing to enter the Center, a frequent turnover of teachers, a needed improvement in the degree of teacher training, no support for adults with autism, and very little positive attention paid by the general public. It is our hope that more and more people can attend to this special group, and give them a hand to offer more substantial training for teachers and a more support for their growing environment!
