Children’s Day – Club Performances in Hongmei Primary School

Friday afternoon has always been a joy to the children in Homgmei Primary School. It is, in fact, the regular time when students from SHSID will go and teach them classes.

On the afternoon of June 3rd, reporters in Hongmei witnessed the fascinating scene. As SHSIDers stepped into the auditorium to warm applause. Some children clapped hands and greeted, and some shouted with joy and passion. This day was the last time in the semester that SHSIDers came to teach, and they had prepared a special Children’s Day gift for those cute students – the first student club performances in Hongmei Primary School.

Students in Hongmei showed all they had learned from the SHSIDers, including fabrics, paper folding, art design, and English songs. Their confidence in performances amazed the audience. Zhiyuan Yao from 2(6) told the reporters that the English class he took was special and meaningful. Not only was the English lesson interesting and fun to participate, it was also instructive that he learned numerous words and songs. Kexin Huang said that her favorite was the fabric lesson because she was able to make fancy artwork from using all those beautiful clothes. The performance nearly ended when SHSIDers stepped onto the stage and sang “Hall of Fame”. “You could be the greatest, you can be the best…” expressed their expectations to the children, encouraging them to be the best of themselves.

Starting from last year’s October, SHSIDers from Grade 11 took turn to teach in Hongmei Primary School. Recent classes include English, Fabric, Art, Paper-folding, Basketball, and Soccer.
