Grade 7-8: Service Day

On May 27th, 25 members of the Service Learning Extension Program volunteered at Sunflowers, as an alternative to the field trip.

Sunflowers is a non-profitable organization that takes care of underprivileged children after school. These children’s parents get off work at 7 PM, which means they have to spend three to four hours every day unguarded. Also, these parents are unable to bear the high cost of after school learning centers. These children are exposed to danger during the long hours before their parents go back home from work. Shona, the founder of Sunflowers, sees this problem and tries to make this situation better by providing these children with a well-organized and safe place to stay after school.
