Grade 8: Field Trip to Shanghai Wild Animal Park

The day trip to the Shanghai Wild Animal Park was both exciting and eye-opening.

It was a cold and rainy morning when we boarded the buses to the zoo. For some of students, the trip represents the first visit to a zoo. After traveling for about 45 minutes on the bus, students and teachers finally arrived at our destination. The Wiild Animal Park is the largest zoo in Shanghai, and among the largest in China too. Its size is around 1.53 kilometers squared, which equals to approximately seven SHSID campuses.

The first thing we visited after entering the park were the sea lions. A student was even allowed to go up onto the stage and have a close up view of the animals! Since sea lions are very pleasant and sweet tempered, this was a wonderful experience.

Then we walked over to the arena where we saw more ferocious animals such as tigers interacting with trained staff. The arena is the one of the most popular sections of the zoo.

After having a pleasant time with the sealions and tigers, all of us headed back to our buses. We were going to go on a safari! We saw the animals that we wouldn’t dream of seeing in the cities, and we also witnessed some funny things too: a bear clung its front paws onto the windows of the bus of class 8(10), seemingly asking for food.

The visit to the zoo ended peacefully in the rain. This was going to be the last field trip eighth graders were going to have for middle school, and I am sure that everyone will cherish this wonderful experience.
