SHSID Annual College Fair

Last Saturday, the annual SHSID College Fair was held in the Xianmian Building.

The pouring rain clearly did not keep over 600 enthusiastic parents and students from pouring in. Officers and alumni hailed from 21 colleges across the globe to share their experience. From Model UN to the west coast sunshine, college major advice to fraternity party guides, admission statistics to interview suggestions, discussions never stopped. Even at the end of the fair, students and parents flocked around the speakers and kept them busy with questions. Students left with a better grasp of how to make the college decisions they will soon face, while parents gained a better understanding of their children's situation. As one volunteer puts it, "The presentations really put everything into perspective. They reminded me to take my eyes off the 'prestige' of schools, but instead look at the education and culture — because that's what really matters." Our college counselors mentioned that SHSID would settle down the time of this annual event on the last Saturday of May every year. Hence, students and parents are strongly encouraged to attend the fair and do some pre-research about the coming colleges so that students could make full use of the college fair.
