Prof. Michael.A.Dispezio Gave an Experiment Lesson

One of the 3 largest American publishing companies, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) publishing company was invited by our school, and asked Prof. Michael A.DiSpezio from HMH to come to SHSID to give an interesting experiment lesson on May 17th, 2016.

At noon, this fantastic scientific experiment lesson was carried out at Room 312 of Yifu Building. The participants included students from both SHS and SHSID. Some school science teachers also joined in. Mr. DiSpezio made students understand the principle of 3D glasses by asking them to wear 3D glasses to watch some pictures. Students also watched the 3D DNA model. The 2nd experiment is DNA extraction. After adding water to wheat germ mixed with eradicator and stirred well, the students poured the mixture into a test tube, and then added high purity alcohol into it. Following these simple steps, students discovered surprisingly that there appeared some white substance which was DNA.

After the class, Prof. DiSpezio praised the organization ability of our school. At the same time, he expressed that he would like to join in relevant activities held by SHSID next time.
