SHSID Students Won Mathematical Contest in Modeling

During the four day period from January 29th to February 2nd, six students from 11th grade participated in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling with faculty advisor Wu YiMing. This is a contest for undergraduate students in which a team of three students utilizes mathematical and computational skills to solve real life modeling problems. Teams can choose one out of six problems from different fields of mathematics, including discrete math and graph theory. This is the first time for SHSID students to participate in this contest. Andrew Zhu, Jason Liao and Winston Wang from 11th grade won Meritorious. Jason Yue, Derril Tai and Yifei Zhu also won Meritorious Award. The Meritorious Award is only awarded to roughly 10% of the teams. Even though the students are competing against thousands of undergraduate students, they managed to won the Meritorious Award.
