Grade 5-6: Charity Sports Meet
Grade 5-6: Charity Sports Meet
It didn’t take long for the students of 5th and 6th grade to immerse themselves into the second Charity Fair of this term. As usual, the whole cafeteria was bulging with activities, laughters, chattering, with the air impregnated from the delicious aroma of food and drink. All of the students and the teachers chose to enjoy themselves in this wonderful afternoon, the afternoon of March the 17th.
This year’s Charity Fair continued last year’s Charity Sports Meet event. Just as last year, the Charity Sports Meet was organized by a group of warmhearted parents. One of the volunteer parent commented: “Today we harvested more than just charity for ones in need. Today, we also witnessed talented students and their hardworking nature; we are all striving for one goal- To raise fund and generosity, starting from this charity event.”
The Charity Sports Meet was mainly consisted of three activity components. The first activity was, of course, the charity run. It was also known as the “Run for Love”, which was led by four students in the front, each carrying a banner to lead the way. The track was set to encompass the school cafeteria, basketball court, and a good part of the autumn campus. More than hundreds of students participated, reaching a number higher than last year. As the huge wave of runners raced around the school, more and more was attracted and started to sign in, waves and waves after waves. With clouds settling in and the sky turning to a shade of grey, many students took their time to enjoy the beautiful SHS campus while running for their charity course.
When the charity run was over, other exciting activities awaited. Students would try their best at rope skipping, push-ups, and other sport activities to raise funding from their sponsors. Some parents couldn’t help but shed a tear as they saw students and their own child enjoying the various activities.
Thanks to the enthusiasm of students, the Charity Sports Meet achieved its fund-raising goal. One of the students who participated twice commented, “This whole event was… just amazing. Adding sports into the charity fair itself was much more engaging! You know, as I quite like to play sports often. Also, I hoped to add more activities in rather than just jump roping and push-ups. ”
This semester’s Charity Fair was yet another high point, as we witnessed students participating without hesitating and their hardwork for charity. “You could definitely say that this time was a huge success.” one parent exclaimed. This event not only brought excitement to the students participating, but also it helped many children who were in need.
