Grade 8: Science Guru Members Got 2nd and 3rd Place in the 31st Shanghai Adolescents Science & Techn

Back in 2015, members of Science Guru achieved 2nd Place in the 30th Shanghai Adolescents Science & Technology Innovation Contest. This year, Jade Hsin from 8(9), Jenny Zhang from 8(3), and Jessica Zhu from 8(3) were granted the honor of 2nd Place in microbiology. Yolanda Xing form 8(3) and Nicole Zhou from 8(1) finished in 3rd Place in Botany. One of the projects started in March 2015 and took place in SHSID. Members of Science Guru came to SHSID every Saturday to observe and record data of the greening process of wheat seedlings under different environments. Another project was conducted at Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences. It focused on the ability of a certain gene in a type of microbe. Participants worked on this project for two months during summer break at SIBS. Members of Science Guru had been conducting papers for the entirety last semester. Even when other students were freed from the stress of finals, they were still revising the papers and getting ready for the final contest. Hard work eventually paid off. Let us congratulate the 5 students who have won the contest and wish the ones who are participating in current projects the best of luck.
