The First Graders Continued Study about Magnets

On March 14th, the first graders continued to study magnets. The students have learned that magnets are attracted to objects that contain iron. They made a hypothesis of what things a magnet will attract and also what objects a magnet will pull through. Students worked in groups to test their hypothesis. As a class we made predictions about how many sheets of paper a magnet could pull through. All the students were amazed that a tiny magnet could pull a paper clip through 100 pieces of paper! The students also timed themselves in a magnet race. They were paired with a partner and used a magnet and a paper clip to see how fast they could get to the finish line.

All these interesting experiments about magnets helped the first graders to understand the basic features of magnet.
