Grade 10:Course Day
Grade 10:Course Day
The “Course Day” for SHSID grade 10 students commenced this semester on March 2nd. The High School Curriculum Info Session was held in the annex auditorium of the Xianmian Building. This info session is designed to explain the mission of the school and the reformed curriculum system for tenth grade students, who will be afforded the option of course selection this semester.
At the beginning, Mr. Feng Ma, the high school principal, introduced the high school curriculum structure and its goals. And then students learned more details from department leaders of student’s affair office, college counseling office, IB/AP coordinator, etc. The faculty team helps with consultations for courses, colleges, careers, and CAS. This is a valuable resource as students aim to plan for their future.
The second session consisted of three parallel seminars – IB, AP and school courses. The students joined the seminars that best fit their strengths and ambitions. The details and requirements of each subject were introduced. New courses, such as American Government and Politics, Business Management, Western Civilization, and Global Perspectives drew a lot of attention from students.
Course Day provided tenth grade students with vital information on the reformed curriculum. Further guidance will be provided subsequently through various events throughout the year.
