Puxi Grade 1: Science Fun

In science class this week all 1st graders studied the states of matter- solid, liquid, and gas. To get a better understanding of the 3 states of matter, we made Coke Floats on Monday! The students mixed vanilla ice cream (solid) with Coca-Cola (liquid) to make a yummy, creamy, foamy drink (gas). The students really enjoyed this science experiment!

On February 25th, Thursday the Grade one science teachers talked about how the states of matter change. The students learned about physical and chemical changes in matter. To see these changes first-hand the students did a class experiment by mixing vinegar (liquid) + baking soda (solid) and created enough gas to blow up a balloon!

On February 26th, Friday the students did a really fantastic experiment to further explore the changing states of matter: we made Oobleck. An oozy gooey liquid-solid like substance that was so much fun to play with! The students really loved to get their hands messy making this fun substance.
