The Dazzling Middle School Art Festival

Just a few days before Christmas, Shanghai High School International Division held its well known art festival for the 7th and 8th graders.

Hundreds of students filed into the big auditorium, looking around at the dancing lights from the ceiling, the giant stage, and the big screens above. ASB members passed out flyers along with multi-colored glow sticks. The stage was set up with a colourful background, and the big screens showed the next performance’s name.

After a few minutes, the announcers walked onto the stage. After a short introduction, the 2015 art festival began! First, the school band started with a lively Christmas song, “Sleigh Ride”. After that, a series of wonderful individual singers sang Christmas songs and other popular tunes. Followed by that, there were musicals, plays, dances, and even a performance done by the teachers! During every performance, the ceiling beams danced around the room, showering everyone in dazzling lights.

During intermissions, a student dressed up as Santa Claus went onto the stage. His assistant reindeer, Rudolph walked along next to him, carrying a box of paper slips. Then, the lucky lottery began, with teachers coming up to select names from the mysterious red boxes. After the lottery, Santa Claus threw smaller gifts at the audience, leading to cheers and applause.

To end this show, the teachers sand an amazing song. Even Principal Ni went up onto the stage! The last performance was by the 7th and 8th grade dance club. The talented dancers did a link of three songs, and they ended with thundering applause and cheers.

This talent show was a mix of talent, entertainment, and fun. Everyone had a great time, this is exciting event brought out the students’ Christmas spirit for the holidays.
