Grade 11: Debate News
Grade 11: Debate News
After several weeks of preparation, the SHSID debate teams were ready for the NSDA Shanghai andJiangsuround competition.
The eleven teams arrived early atPingheInternationalSchoolon 21 Nov, Saturday and though they were nervous, confidently presented their speeches and used sharp logic to rebut their opponent’s arguments. The judges were impressed by our excellent presentation skills. On the second day, many of our teams made it into the octal-final round, one team entered quarterfinals, and another team went into the semi-finals.
On November 27 (Friday), six students with a teacher took off toNanjingto compete in the NSDA debate competition regional round. Accompanied by Mr. Serrano, students debated throughout Saturday and Sunday with the topic: "Resolved: Animal testing for scientific and commercial purposes should be banned." In the end, these students' hard work paid off.
Through the competition, our debate team strengthened our sense of school pride and realized, once again, the necessity of cooperation. Overall, it was a challenging yet rewarding experience. And our teams are looking forward to the next regional round competition!
