An Exceptional Staff Meeting

It was 5:30 pm on the Monday of November 30th, and the lights upon the classroom 305 within theNewArtsBuildingremained shimmering brightly throughout the dark night. Through the glass windows, a cluster of 40 or so teachers could be seen seated silently and filling up the entire room. The second Workshop of the middle school first semester had begun. The Workshop has influenced the manner of past teacher conferences, and by using groups, teachers were able to discuss topics that are varied yet collaborative. The first Workshop held two months ago focused upon classroom management; the current meeting held surrounded the theme of technological advancement within classrooms. To start off, the special guests invited— Zhu Dan and Pu Xiao Ying from the primary division shared their past experiences of iPad education. During the summer, the two teachers had participated in the Apple Distinguished Educator teaching program, and they have obtained numerous schooling resources and methods. Although the middle school section has yet had any iPad classes, they have provided a new passage towards the viewpoints and resources of tutoring, sparked off some envy, and led the teachers to possess broader visions. Next, the middle school teachers Shen Tian Yuan and Liu Jing Wen each introduced their common intellectual tools used during math class, and similarly, they brightened the perspective of others.
Another theme of the latest Workshop meeting was the developing and evaluating of positive study methods among middle school students. Ms. Hu Qing Tian, head of math group, had taken part in the IB MYP training program, and she passed on the concept of Approaches to Learning (ATL) to others. The reason why new middle school students have problems fitting in is that they are unable to find suitable study habits. And the concept of ATL targeted the middle school curriculum, and the teachers within Workshop will be discussing deeper ideas among this field.
The international division education occupation can be associated with countless challenges, but this also provides these professionals broader area for development and improvement. The middle school teachers are constantly and enthusiastically experimenting new techniques not only for themselves, but also the prosperity of SHSID. Let’s look forward to the next exceptional workshop!
