Grade 11&12: Teaching Base at Hongmei Primary School

On November 20th, in the afternoon, Principal Ma, Director. Liu, Teacher Ma, and the representatives of SHSID came to Hong Mei Primary School to join the opening ceremony for SHSID's teaching base at Hong Mei Primary School. After the exciting opening speeches of the leaders and the ceremony, volunteers came to their respective classrooms to meet their little friends.

Jasmine Gu and Maggie Huang from the Art Club, along with Janet Peng from Tuck In, volunteered this teaching trip. While it was only a couple of hours, it brought us so much satisfaction and sweet memories.. When we first entered into the room, the students were a bit nervous and distant, probably due to a first time meeting. However, once we asked them to draw circles on the paper, the whole classroom suddenly became warm and joyful.. Every student was energized. They held their pencils and drew all kinds of circles on white paper, albeit childish, with many designs added to the circles. We "patrolled" the entire class, asked their creative ideas with circles one by one, and tried to teach some basic drawing skills as much as possible. We hope our interactions will inspire their interest and passion into painting.

Afterwards, we invited a few volunteers to come to present their artwork and briefly explain their ideas. We also selected a few very creative projects for exhibitions to the class.

Our short teaching event finished upon the school bell. Our little teachers' voices went a bit dry afterwards. We felt teaching is really not easy and it takes hard work. But when we saw the smiling faces of our little friends in showcasing their own projects, we feel the satisfaction coming from helping others. It is all worthy of the efforts.
